Palliative Care

Palliative Care is the active, total support of the individual who is non responsive to curative treatments.   We recognise that more care, support, attention and understanding is required in these circumstances. Providing these are essential in our care package.  Our aim is to create a peaceful atmosphere in which people are afforded a sense of dignity and respect.  To achieve this we have a trained professional team in a modern and fully equipped facility.

The co-ordination of care greatly enhances the effectiveness and quality of attention. Our team ist1 4171786 sun and lifeencompasses all the attributes essential for care and our focus in on the following: 
  • A holistic approach providing support and comfort. 
  • A sense of dignity and respect aimed at the individual involved.
  • A framework of reassurance and security with respect to the family.
  • A team that identifies with the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the individual.

Palliative Care Team comprises:
  1. Director of Nursing:  responsible for the implementation of the care package.
  2. Palliative Care Nurse:  essential in all medical needs of the patient and imperative in anticipating rather that treating discomfort.
  3. Massage Therapist:  crucial in the role of touch and relieving - plays a vital role in creating an ambience of relaxation.
  4. Physiotherapist:  assessing the person capabilities, needs and desires, to live the best possible independence.
  5. Psychotherapist: providing support and reassurance for the patient and families.
We deliver care that respects the dignity and individuality of the older person, considering all their needs, circumstances and priorities.
